I am a board certified general adult psychiatrist with 30 years of experience. I co-founded PsychServ Medical Corporation with Nathan J. Zilberg, Ph.D., where I practice in Corte Madera, California.
The majority of my practice is direct patient care. My approach to care is collaborative, individualized, and pragmatic.
We begin with a comprehensive consultation. I take a thorough history that allows me to begin to understand how you are put together as a person: how your personality is organized, your coping style, your patterns in interpersonal relationships, your “hard-wired” biological makeup, and what factors have influenced your resilience, adaptability, strengths, and limitations.
I share these hypotheses with you. We then begin a process of understanding the most likely causes of your distress/problems and we collaboratively decide upon a treatment approach to improve the quality of your life.
Depending on the outcome of our consultation, I decide upon the most appropriate diagnosis(es). Then, according to your preferences, I may provide integrated treatment with combined medication and psychotherapy. I also may provide medication or psychotherapy as standalone treatments. For specialized psychological treatments that I am not trained to provide, I refer to colleagues with that expertise.
One-third of my practice is forensic work. This includes comprehensive evaluations, deposition and trial testimony in both civil law suits and in the California Workers’ Compensation system.
For more information regarding my background, approach to treatment, and specifics of my practice, please refer to my About, Practice Details, and Med-Legal pages.
